  • Cream of Coconutcream of coconut is sweeter, creamier and thicker that coconut cream, which usually lacks sweetness. If you don’t have cream of coconut, simply use coconut cream but add a sweetener to taste, like agave.
  • Pineapple Juice – this Dole brand is made with 100% fruit juice with no added sugar. It’s an excellent source of Vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant.
  • Frozen Strawberriesany frozen strawberries from your local supermarket will do. You can substitute with any other frozen fruit. For best results, DO NOT USE FRESH STRAWBERRIES OR ANY OTHER FRESH FRUIT.
  • White Rumlight rum is the most common type of rum used for the pina colada cocktail, however, dark rum or Malibu rum will also work.

🍹Best Rum For A Piña Colada

The most common type of rum used for a pina colada, no matter how you flavor it, is a light, or white rum, although I have had them with dark rum and they are fantastic that way. In addition, Malibu rum is also popular, especially if you want to enhance the coconut flavor of the cocktail.

👩🏽‍🍳 Expert Tips

  • For best results, serve these strawberry pina colada drinks immediately after blending all your ingredients. This particular cocktail recipe does not store well.
  • Be sure to measure your ingredients carefully to get the best tasting pina colada ever.
  • To make your pina colada cocktail as cold as can be, saturate the glasses with water and place in the freezer for about 10 minutes while you prepare the drinks.
  • Traditionally, strawberry pina coladas are not very sweet. To make frozen pina coladas a little sweeter, simply add some simple syrup (not all brands are vegan) or agave prior to blending.
