🍋 Ingredients and Substitutions For a Blueberry Margarita
- Organic Cane Sugar - remember, not all sugar is vegan. I like organic sugar as they usually are.
- Fresh Blueberries - you can substitute with frozen, if you prefer. For more blueberry recipes, check out this Lemon Blueberry Loaf, my Vegan Blueberry Lemon Muffins and my Blueberry Chia Seed Pudding.
- Tequila - blanca or silver tequila work best because they are clear. For a list of vegan tequilas, check out Barnivore.
- Triple Sec - found in most grocery or liquor stores.
- Lime Juice - best to use fresh limes, but you can also use bottled lime juice, instead.
- Lemonade - I prefer sugar-free lemonade in this recipe, but you can use whatever you can find or make your own.
- Sea Salt - you'll rim the glass with this. You can also make a sugar salt mixture to rim it with.
- Garnishes - besides salt for the rim, you can garnish your cocktail with a lemon wedge (or lime wedge) and more fresh blueberries.

📖 How to Make Blueberry Lemonade Margaritas
1. First things first, make the blueberry syrup. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until sugar has dissolved. Add blueberries and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until blueberries have burst.
2. Remove from heat and strain into a cup or glass jar. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Combine lemonade, tequila, blueberry syrup, triple sec and lime juice in a pitcher. Give it a good stir with a long spoon.
4. Rim each margarita glass with coarsely ground sea salt and/or sugar (instructions below). Add ice to each glass. Pour margarita mixture into prepared glasses. Serve immediately garnished with lemon slices, lime slices and more blueberries.
