Tips for making Meatless Pigs in a Blanket

  • If the carrots are super-soaked, you can pat them dry before wrapping to prevent soggy crescent roll dough.
  • Use room-temperature crescent rolls so the dough rolls more easily without cracking. Roll each carrot from the long end of the triangle to create a tighter, more even wrap.
  • Optional seasonings or flavorings, such as liquid smoke, paprika powder, or nutritional yeast, can boost savory flavor.

Storage, Freezing & Reheating

Storage: Once the vegan dogs are cooled to room temperature, store them in an airtight container and refrigerate. Eat them within 2-3 days for the best results.

Freezing: Yes—you can freeze vegan pigs in a blanket, and they actually hold up really well if you do it right. Because the fillings are plant-based, you don’t have to worry about texture changes that sometimes happen with meat. The key is to keep air and moisture out: let them cool completely (if cooked), then freeze them in a single layer before transferring to an airtight container or freezer bag. This prevents sticking and freezer burn.

Reheating: When you’re ready to eat them, you can bake or air-fry straight from frozen—just add a few extra minutes so the pastry crisps up again. They’re great for make-ahead snacks or party food, and freezing them won’t sacrifice flavor or structure as long as they’re well sealed.
