- 3 large sweet potatoes peeled and sliced into 1/4 in strips
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Optional Seasonings
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp vegan parmesan
- 1/2 cup tofu sour cream
- 1 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp cajun seasoning
Wash and pat dry sweet potatoes. Peel, and cut off ends.
Cut in half, then in thin slices. If you want thicker fries, cut them thicker. You can even do thick wedges, but remember to cook them longer. It's ok if they aren't picture-perfect.
Soak slices for 30 minutes in a bowl of ice cold water. This removes excess starch allowing them to cook more evenly
Drain and pat dry. Place in large mixing bowl. Add oil and coat fries evenly.
Add sea salt and other seasonings and toss until evenly coated.
Place in a single layer in the air fryer. Air fry on 380F/193C until crispy and golden brown, usually about 18-20 minutes. Give it a little shake every 5-7 minutes so they cook evenly and don't burn. Once done, remove and place on a paper towel layer to absorb excess oil. Serve piping hot!
- Nutritional information is only an estimate and does not contain any seasonings other than avocado oil, sea salt and black pepper.
- It's About the Sauce - my favorite sauce to dip these Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries in is my homemade smoky Chipotle Sauce. To die for friends! Garlic Aioli is also good and you can find my favorite recipe for it in my Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes.
- Make them Crispier - these sweet potato fries are best served crispy. If they come out of the air fryer as soggy sweet potato fries, stick them back in for the best crispy results (but remember to check on them so you don't overdo it) until they are done.
- Season them like Crazy - you can season these prior to putting them in your air fryer basket after tossing them in olive oil any way you want. I love this Cajun Seasoning from Amazon. You can also load them with tofu sour cream and vegan parmesan cheese. OMG, I'm hungry!
- Leftover Fries - got leftovers? No problem. Make vegan chili fries or slather them with Got leftover fries? Make vegan chili fries or slather them with homemade Vegan Béchamel Sauce.
