Spiced Orange Gin Spritz Recipe

This Gin Spritz recipe is the perfect aromatic gin cocktail. It starts with brewed black tea that's simmered in warming spices. Once at room temperature, shake the spiced orange black tea with gin, mounds of ice, and freshly squeezed citrus. Then pour into your favorite cocktail glass and top with sparkling win

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces gin
  • 6 ounces sparkling wine
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 4 tbsp coconut sugar substitute with vegan brown sugar or agave.
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp allspice ground
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup orange juice fresh squeezed preferred
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice fresh squeezed preferred
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Reduce heat to low, then add tea bags and seep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags. Add orange zest, coconut sugar, cinnamon sticks, allspice, and vanilla and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Allow to cool to room temperature. Once cool, strain the spiced orange black tea mixture using a fine mesh sieve.
  • Add ice to a cocktail shaker. then pour in the spiced orange black tea, gin, orange juice, and lemon juice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
  • Next, add the spiced orange black tea, gin, orange juice, and lemon juice to the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
  • Finally, add ice to your glasses of choice (see below for glass recommendations). Pour the shaken drink into each glass, filling them about 3/4 of the way full. Top each glass with sparkling wine and stir gently. Garnish with dried blood oranges and fresh mint or basil. Serve immediately and enjoy

Notes

  • Nutrition information is an estimate
  • Use tonic or sparkling water as a substitute for sparkling wine if you prefer your beverage alcohol-free.
  • Choose a sweeter sparkling wine, such as Moscato or Asti Spumante, if you prefer less tartness in this bevie. In addition, stir in a tablespoon of agave nectar to add even more sweetness.
  • Substitute with tequila or vodka if you're not a fan of gin.
  • Substitute with white or pink grapefruit juice if you don't fancy orange or lemon juice.
  • Add a cinnamon and/or sugar rim. This balances the tartness with added sweetness. Simply run a lemon wedge around the perimeter of your glass and dip into a small plate of cinnamon and/or sugar.
  • Make this drink non-alcoholic by substituting gin with this gin alternative.
